Jedi around the galaxy are being viciously hunted and killed by the evil Galactic Empire. Aware of the imminent danger, Jedi Master Boemana Tora and her Padawan Makal Lori, flee to the outer rim systems close to the planet of Lothal.
Every once and a while, a project comes along that makes you smile and say yes just to be a part of the immense fun that will be had creating it. STAR WARS: EXILE is a true labor of love crafted by co-directors Noel Braham and Pokey Spears. Both acting and directing on this project, Chance knew his role as an assistant director would be to help guide them on their journey to capture their vision of this grand universe where they are introducing a diverse cast of bold new characters. It was an amazing opportunity and a surreal experience says Chance,
“The mist of the Los Angeles mountains was rolling in at 6 AM and I’m talking with my good friend Will Myers. We both turn and there he is, Darth Vader, walking down towards us… Backlit by the glowing sky. There are few moments in life that blend reality with cinema into a singular experience. That’s Star Wars. Its the fantastic made real. Cannot thank Noel and Pokey enough for the opportunity.”
The collaboration went so well that both Braham and Spears called upon Chance to help in post-production as a producer; giving critical feedback and connecting the team with key talents like composer Ryan Leach and sound designer Michael Kao.
STAR WARS: EXILE premiered at the historic Vista Theater down Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles and exhibited in film festivals nationwide along with being selected as one of only 25 short films in the official STAR WARS FAN FILM AWARDS. Exile took home the 2018 award for best choreography and best visual effects.
