WATCH SHORT FILM

A sci-fi espionage short film that demonstrates how a small quiet victory tips the balance of power and foretells the outcome of World War II.

PROJECT ARBITER was created over four years by writer, director, and producer Michael Chance; however, the project first came alive when Chance connected with Robert Simons who designed the Arbiter suit at his acclaimed Gadget-Bot Productions. It was a wonderful collaboration that led to the suit being crafted by Texas-based film fabricators Blue Realm Studio.

The unique look of the film was achieved by the director of photography, Jason Beckwith, through the mixture of the RED camera system and vintage lenses. Jason also personally fabricated the Thompson Railgun.

Production spanned 10 days in Petaluma, California helmed by producer Vicki de Mey. It was filmed in the summer of 2010 at Hans Beerbaum’s Kannon King film ranch; however, the bulk of creation took place at Ntropic‘s San Francisco post-production studio in the hands of the skilled Jesse Boots, visual effects supervisor and lead compositor.

The PROJECT ARBITER 20-minute short film premiered at the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con International Film Festival and months later making its online debut to now over 3 million views.

While the list of talented professionals spans long on this project, it was made with an independent spirit and much love.

While there have been many projects come and go over the years, Arbiter was the best experience I have had making a film with an amazingly dedicated and positive group of people. Everyone gave their best.” – Michael Chance
